Almanac

Every note here, sorted by how it was made — not by calendar month, not by mood, not by whether the sky was grey. Some pieces arrive in one sitting; some sit in a drawer until the sentence loosens; some I rewrite twice and still feel shy about. This page is the shelf behind the reading list on perch: the same cards, but labelled by process instead of date.

I started grouping this way after noticing that my fastest drafts often came from kopitiam mornings, when the table was still damp from a wiped cloth and the fan had not yet been switched to full. Slower pieces tended to follow walks — river park, market stairs — where the body moved while the mind caught up. The Chin Swee note is the exception that proves the rule: it took two rewrites and still refuses to settle, which is why it lives in the last group rather than at the top of the page.

None of these labels are badges. They are simply honest about labour — how long a paragraph sat on my table before I trusted it enough to publish.
